Visitor Guidelines
Visitor Policy
At Watertown Regional Medical Center (WRMC), we fully support the vital role that visitors play in creating a healing environment for our patients. We encourage family members and friends to be present to learn how to best support a patient’s health needs, both in the hospital and after discharge. While visitors contribute to healing, we also recognize that they can pose a potential source of infection and may be at risk themselves in a healthcare setting. Our visitor guidelines are designed to help ensure a safe and restorative environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Visitor Guidelines
- Patients have the right to decline or refuse visits at any time. Staff will respect this decision.
- Taking breaks from the bedside can be beneficial for both the patient and visitors. Staff may limit the number of visitors in a room based on the patient’s condition and to maintain a supportive environment. In the ICU, only 2 visitors are allowed at a time.
- If you are feeling ill, have a contagious condition, or are experiencing symptoms like a cold, flu, or diarrhea, please reschedule your visit.
- Upon arrival, please check in at the nurse’s station before proceeding to the patient’s room. This ensures patient privacy and that your visit is appropriate.
- Use hand sanitizer before entering and after leaving a patient’s room.
- Visitors should not bring food or drinks for patients unless authorized by the patient’s doctor or nurse.
- Restrooms in patient rooms are for patient use only. Visitors should use public restrooms throughout the hospital.
- For infection control, children should not play, sit, or crawl on the floors anywhere in the hospital, including patient rooms.
- Visitors should respect hospital property and maintain a quiet, healing environment.
- Watertown Regional Medical Center is a smoke-free facility.
- Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited on the premises.
Visiting Hours
Unless otherwise directed by a physician, WRMC does not have set visiting hours, allowing flexibility for patients and their families. We ask visitors to be mindful of quiet hours from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am to support rest and healing.
- If visiting after 8:00 pm, please enter through the Emergency Department entrance and check in with security.
- All visitors remaining in the hospital after 8:00 pm must register with security.
- The main entrance locks at 8:00 pm.
- Visiting hours may vary depending on the department and specific patient needs.
